When it comes to affiliate marketing, the first thing that you need to do is lose all the hype you’ve heard or read on the internet. For the most part, these are ploys to entice you to buy a product or service being offered by the advertiser. In short, you are not going to realize riches overnight, or even in a few weeks from your online marketing efforts, nor are you going to find a majority of the services free online. The reality is that if something is free, there is usually something attached to it which makes it debatable as to whether or not the free service is even worth the true cost involved.
You’ve obviously come here looking for help. We can help you but you have to be willing to put forth the effort to make what we teach you work for you. If you have come here thinking money was going to simply come walking through the door to you, then you’ve come to the wrong place. There is no such place like that on earth in truth. Remember what mom and dad told you from the beginning of time – if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. You’ve heard all the sayings – we all have. “There’s no such thing as a free lunch” and all the rest.
Come into this with an open mind, and the willingness to put forth some effort, and invest a little of your money into the venture and you’ll succeed. Starting a business online is low cost, but contrary to popular belief, it’s NOT FREE. There are free services, but as was mentioned early on in this article, we’re going to show you why it’s not a good idea to base you business model on these services.
If you are the type of person that wants to do this today, but you lose interest by next week, you’re wasting your time because you’ll never achieve what you hope to when it comes to online marketing. You have to be willing to focus your efforts on the task at hand. You have to be willing to fork over a few bucks to work toward making your business succeed. That’s not money paid to us. This website is free. The money is for services such as webhosting, perhaps a designer for your website and maybe some advertising.
We’re not going to teach you how to build a website. That’s beyond the scope of what we want to do here. We will however tell you where you can get software to build one, or even hire a designer or maybe to buy an existing website that’s ready to go. Whatever you need to succeed, we’ll let you know about it here. We can provide you with the tools, resources and information. The rest is up to you. We can’t do it for you, but we will help you to get it done and we will answer any questions that you might have along the way.
Certain parts of this website at some point will require a login. This is to keep people from copying our work. Other information will only be distributed through our email newsletter. Make sure you get signed up for that or you’ll miss valuable information. We look forward to working with you!

Affiliate marketing is not something you are going to learn over night, nor is it something that you can learn all there is to know from a single article. Like anything else, affiliate marketing takes time to learn. That’s why the failure rate in affiliate marketing is an astounding 90%! Of the remaining 10%, 95% will be mediocre, or perform moderately well, while the remaining 5% of those will be what is known as “super-affiliates”.
How Can That Be
The answer to “how can that be?” is simple. That 5% really digs their heels in. For lack of a better term, they are information “hogs”. They just can’t seem to get enough information. As they gather this information, they are actually learning how to manage affiliate marketing properly.
Don’t Put the Cart before the Horse
Most people come online, build a website and then sit back and wait. What are they waiting for? The money of course, except it isn’t going to come. They’ve started their project – The website is up, so they started their affiliate marketing venture properly. Now they’ve jumped all the way to the end, and they’re waiting on the money to start rolling in, but there’s a problem. THEY FORGOT EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN that needs to be done!
Content Building
You have to have related, quality content on the site for the visitors when they get there. Not just your information pages about your products and services. You need quality, well written content that is about your products or services, and is interesting enough for them to stick around and read it. This has to be added on a regular basis.
Link Building
You have to build site PR by gaining quality links to you site. Quality links are defined as those that have content that are somehow related to the content in your site. By related, it means that if you have a mortgage site, then other financial related websites are quality links, as well as anything real estate related. These sites are all complimentary to one another.
Advertising
Even with all that, you’re still not going to get traffic overnight. You’re website is a constant work in progress. New content has to be added regularly so that the search engines will see that you update your information on a regular basis, the more the better.
While we are waiting on that gain in site popularity which can take months, or even years if you choose a highly competitive keyword set. That leaves you with having to advertise your site.
Stay away from those PTC’s. Their traffic is cheap for a reason. The traffic that comes from them is garbage, unless of course you have another PTC. You are far better off to use services like Google Adwords, or Yahoo Search Marketing to do your advertising. You’ll see much better results!

Affiliate programs are fortunately enough all on the level for the most part. Still, there are some unscrupulous operators out there that will drop off the face of the earth and leave you unpaid for your referrals.

Choosing a good affiliate program is beneficial to your online success. There are of course other factors involved, but things all begin and end with the affiliate program.
Which Program
Which affiliate program you choose is relative to your interests. If your interest is in collecting baseball cards, and you’ve built a blog around that, then you wouldn’t want to plaster your website with ads about weight loss. Your success is going to depend upon the audience your site attracts, and sports cards are definitely not synonymous with weight loss. So what you want to do is:
