Choosing a good affiliate program is beneficial to your online success. There are of course other factors involved, but things all begin and end with the affiliate program.

Which affiliate program you choose is relative to your interests. If your interest is in collecting baseball cards, and you’ve built a blog around that, then you wouldn’t want to plaster your website with ads about weight loss. Your success is going to depend upon the audience your site attracts, and sports cards are definitely not synonymous with weight loss. So what you want to do is:

• Select an affiliate program with products or services that are complimentary to the site contents.
• Choose a program that has plenty of creative material for you to use in your efforts. This is especially true in the case of you being a new online marketer.

Affiliate Program Particulars

Another thing to consider when selecting an affiliate program is the terms and conditions that surround the program itself. Among other things you will want to know the following:

• How often are payments made?
• What is the minimum that you must earn to be paid?
• Does the program offer multiple tiers?
• Does the program make sales only to those in your country or worldwide?
• How do you get paid?

Payments

One key factor that helps people to decide which affiliate program they are going to associate themselves with is how the program will pay them. Payments can take many different forms and some make it harder to get your money than others, though not intentionally:

• Paypal is a universal payment system and can accepted in most countries, though there are some that cannot accept or use paypal.
• Checks – if you are paid by check, are they in your local currency? Checks payable to you in a foreign currency can take as long as a month or perhaps longer to clear the bank.
• Debit card – Many companies are now making payments available via debit card which makes it easier for you to get paid and without having to wait for checks to clear the bank. Fees can be a bit high for these however.
